Stephen has interests in electricity and environmental market alternatives.  Recent research focuses upon reconfiguring consumption by accounting for collective and individual socio-cultural factors, and on the mediating role of technologies and institutions.  His broader teaching and research interests include the politics of energy, sustainability and climate change, risk, public participation and the relationship between socio-cultural and technical disciplines.
