Collaborations

CEEM brings together researchers in UNSW and partner organisations, contributing to UNSW's ability to provide world-class research, advice and education. In 2007, CEEM conducted jointly funded research work with a number of other universities and research centres.

Environmental Economics Research Hub (EERH)
Members of CEEM are part of the Environmental Economics Research Hub (EERH), an initiative for integrated policy-relevant economic research on environmental issues. EERH incorporates projects in several Australian universities and is funded through the Commonwealth Environment Research Facility (CERF). Regina Betz leads the CERF project “Climate Change - Testing emissions trading design experimentally”. Joint work with researchers at the ANU and Central Queensland University is ongoing and includes joint organisation of conferences.

Economics Design Network (EDN)
CEEM is actively involved in the Economics Design Network (EDN) and has organised joint events and presented at EDN workshops. The November workshops held at UNSW on Auctioning Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Permits in Australia were organised in collaboration with the EDN.

Curtin University
CEEM has run joint short courses on emissions trading and climate change with the Area of Research Excellence (AORE) in Oil and Gas Management (OGM) at Curtin University. Joint publications are also forthcoming.

Climate Strategies (Cambridge University), UK
Climate Strategies is an academic network which focuses on international climate change policy. CEEM is a partner in the Climate Strategies project that focuses on the linking potential of different emissions trading schemes. CEEM has jointly published with Climate Strategies, for example, in a 2007 special issue of the Climate Policy Journal on permit allocation.

Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research, Germany
Members of CEEM are working closely with researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute of Systems and Innovation Research in Karlsruhe, Germany. This collaboration, which focuses especially on the European Emissions Trading Scheme, has resulted in a number of joint publications.

Instituto de Investigacion Tecnologica (IIT), Madrid, Spain
The collaboration with IIT involves joint research interests and academic exchanges in areas including wind integration and distributed resources.
